How To Make A Shoe Rack Out Of Shoe Boxes

I used to have a messy closet with shoes scattered all over the floor. It was a nightmare trying to find the right pair of shoes before heading out the door. But then, I stumbled upon a DIY project that changed everything. I learned how to make a shoe rack out of shoe boxes!

Step-by-Step Guide

Materials:

  • Shoe boxes (as many as needed)
  • Scissors or box cutter
  • Ruler
  • Glue or tape

Instructions:

  1. Measure the length, width, and height of the shoe box.
  2. Cut off the lid and one of the shorter sides of the shoe box.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all shoe boxes.
  4. Arrange the boxes in a row with the open side facing outwards.
  5. Glue or tape the boxes together, side by side.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for as many rows as needed.
  7. Stack the rows on top of each other and secure them with glue or tape.
  8. Allow the glue to dry completely before using the shoe rack.

Top 10 Tips and Ideas

  1. Use shoe boxes that are all the same size for a uniform look.
  2. Decorate the shoe boxes with wrapping paper or contact paper to add some flair.
  3. Stack the shoe boxes vertically or horizontally to fit your closet space.
  4. Add labels to each shoe box to easily find the pair you’re looking for.
  5. Use the shoe boxes to store other items such as scarves, belts, or accessories.
  6. Paint the shoe boxes to match your room’s color scheme.
  7. Use a shoe rack to store shoes in a mudroom or entryway for easy access.
  8. Arrange the shoe boxes in a zigzag pattern for a unique look.
  9. Use shoe boxes with clear plastic lids to easily see the contents inside.
  10. Stack the shoe boxes in a pyramid shape for a fun and playful display.

Pros and Cons

One of the biggest pros of making a shoe rack out of shoe boxes is the cost. It’s an affordable way to organize your shoes without spending a lot of money. Another pro is the customization. You can choose the size, shape, and color of the shoe boxes to fit your specific needs and style.

However, there are also some cons to consider. One is the durability. Shoe boxes are not the sturdiest material, so the shoe rack may not last as long as other options. Another con is the practicality. If you have a large shoe collection, it may be difficult to fit all of your shoes in the shoe boxes or on the shoe rack.

My Personal Review and Suggestion

Overall, I am extremely happy with my DIY shoe rack made out of shoe boxes. It has helped me keep my closet organized and my shoes easily accessible. However, I do suggest using clear plastic shoe boxes or labeling each box to make it easier to find the right pair of shoes. Additionally, I recommend reinforcing the shoe rack with extra tape or glue for added durability.

Question & Answer and FAQs

Q: How many shoe boxes do I need to make a shoe rack?

A: The number of shoe boxes you need depends on the size of your shoe collection and the size of the shoe boxes. Measure your shoes and choose the appropriate size boxes to fit them.

Q: Can I use a different type of box besides a shoe box?

A: Yes, you can use any type of box as long as it’s sturdy enough to hold your shoes.

Q: How do I clean the shoe rack?

A: Use a damp cloth to wipe down the shoe rack as needed. Be careful not to use too much water, as it may damage the boxes.
